There is an alternative therapeutic approach, outside of established conventional medicine:
Macular degeneration and its treatment with vision acupuncture:
This eye disease is among the most common that can be treated with vision acupuncture. While macular degeneration cannot be completely cured with acupuncture, the progression of the disease can be significantly slowed, and even some vision may be restored. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, it is important to begin acupuncture as soon as possible to ensure the progression is controlled in the best way. Acupuncture can also be used preventively for the other eye, for example, if only one eye is initially affected.
The vision acupuncture method developed by Prof. Boel can be applied to both forms of macular degeneration, either as a complement to medical treatment or as an alternative method when doctors cannot offer any treatment.
Over the last 25 years, thousands of patients with various eye disorders have been successfully treated with the pioneering acupuncture method developed by the Danish acupuncturist Prof. Dr. John Boel. Since 1996, he has been training healers and doctors across Europe in this treatment method. Only acupuncturists who have obtained their qualification directly from Prof. Dr. John Boel can be considered experts in this field. The qualification specifically concerns a combination of points developed by Prof. Boel, most of which are located outside the traditional meridians of Chinese acupuncture.
In 1996, I was personally trained by Prof. Boel in vision acupuncture. Particular attention was paid to the location of the points and a highly precise needling technique. Over the past years, I have successfully treated a large number of patients suffering from macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, ocular infarction, optic nerve disorders, and paresis of the eye muscles. Other eye disorders that can be treated with vision acupuncture today include: blindness due to brain damage (such as cerebral contusion or stroke, e.g., after traffic accidents), threatened retinal detachment, and myopia in children and young people.
How is the vision acupuncture procedure performed? Of course, the eye itself is never needled during vision acupuncture. Special acupuncture points are treated (for example, on the forehead, hands, feet, etc.). Patients undergo a therapy of 8-12 treatment days, with two acupuncture sessions per day. The individual duration of the treatment series depends on the severity of the disease and the general condition of the patient.
To ensure that the result achieved for the eyes remains stable, maintenance treatments should be performed at longer intervals over time.

Does vision acupuncture work for all patients? Each person responds to acupuncture differently. Some patients achieve great results after just eight to twelve sessions; for others, it may take several months. In about 3% of patients, acupuncture has not provided any benefit. After five to eight days of treatment, it is possible to recognize how well the patient responds to acupuncture in general, and it can be estimated whether further treatments will be promising or not.
